SIMON, SIMON, SATAN HATH DESIRED TO HAVE YOU “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not...” Luke 22:31-32 KJV Peter told Jesus he was ready to go to prison and die with Him. A few hours later, he denied knowing Him three times. Jesus knew it was coming. Satan wanted to sift Peter like wheat. Shake him hard enough to find out what was really there. Jesus never promised Peter he’d avoid it. “I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not.” Peter failed miserably that night, yet his faith didn’t die. What died was Peter’s confidence in himself. That was something Peter needed to learn. He thought he was the guy who would never fold. Then the pressure came and showed him otherwise. Jesus had already looked past the whole failure and told him what to do afterward. “When thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” Turn back. Get up. Take what you learned and use it to help somebody else. The man who denied Jesus beside a fire would later stand publicly in Jerusalem and preach Christ without fear. Satan wanted to destroy Peter. All he managed to do was help strip away the part of Peter that Peter was trusting instead of God. Sometimes the sifting isn’t the end of you. Sometimes it’s where God shows you what needs to go. #MoreJoyMinistries
