THE KING FROM 300 WAS ESTHER’S HUSBAND
Here’s a connection you might have missed.
Xerxes, the Persian king from 300, is widely identified as Ahasuerus, the king Esther married. You’ve probably watched that movie without realizing you were looking at a portrayal of a king from the Bible.
The KJV calls him Ahasuerus. Greek history calls him Xerxes.
His empire stretched from India to Ethiopia, covering 127 provinces. This was the throne Esther approached when Haman plotted to wipe out the Jews.
Walking in without being called could get her killed. Being queen didn’t exempt her. Unless the king held out his golden sceptre, she faced death.
She asked her people to fast for three days, then went before him.
“If I perish, I perish.”
Esther 4:16 KJV
Remember that next time you watch 300. The Persian king commanding those armies is the same king whose throne Esther had to approach.
