THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS IS NEXT MONTH. LET’S SEPARATE BIBLE FACT FROM RAPTURE FICTION.
The posts are already starting.
Every year when the Feast of Trumpets gets close, prophecy pages light up. Dates start getting thrown around, old calculations come back, somebody says the rapture has to happen on Trumpets, and pretty soon speculation gets repeated like Scripture.
I’m watching this year too.
Probably closer than I ever have.
I just want to keep the Bible in one hand and the speculation in the other.
The Feast of Trumpets begins this year at sundown on September 11.
That gets attention.
I’m still not setting a date.
There is already enough going on without adding things the Bible never said.
ISRAEL IS BACK IN THE LAND:
This is where I think any serious end times study has to begin.
For almost 1,900 years there was no sovereign nation of Israel.
The Jewish people were scattered across the earth, yet the prophets repeatedly said God would gather them back into their own land.
“I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.” Ezekiel 36:24 KJV
Then Ezekiel sees the valley of dry bones.
The bones come together. Flesh returns. Eventually breath enters them.
God tells Ezekiel exactly who the bones represent.
“These bones are the whole house of Israel.” Ezekiel 37:11 KJV
Then Isaiah asks one of the strangest questions in prophecy.
“Shall a nation be born at once?” Isaiah 66:8 KJV
May 14, 1948.
Israel declared independence.
A people scattered for centuries were once again a nation in the same land their prophets had written about thousands of years earlier.
It actually happened.
Most generations of Christians could read Ezekiel, Daniel and Zechariah and wonder how Israel could possibly be standing in the land during the last days.
We don’t have to wonder.
Israel is there.
Jerusalem is there.
That matters enormously because Daniel’s final prophecy specifically concerns Israel and Jerusalem.
EZEKIEL’S 430 YEARS:
God commanded Ezekiel to lie on his left side 390 days for Israel and then on his right side 40 days for Judah.
God even explains the symbolism.
“I have appointed thee each day for a year.” Ezekiel 4:6 KJV
390 plus 40 gives 430 years.
That is straight from the text.
The calculation people commonly use after that is where interpretation enters.
Seventy years are associated with Israel’s Babylonian captivity.
430 minus 70 leaves 360.
Then Leviticus 26 repeatedly warns Israel that continued rebellion would bring sevenfold punishment.
“If ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.” Leviticus 26:18 KJV
360 multiplied by seven gives 2,520 prophetic years.
Using the 360 day year commonly seen in prophetic passages gives 907,200 days.
When that period is carried forward from proposed dates connected with Israel’s restoration after Babylon, the calculation lands remarkably close to the modern restoration of Israel.
Some versions are calculated all the way to 1948.
I think it is definitely worth studying yourself.
DANIEL’S 70 WEEKS IS MUCH HARDER TO IGNORE:
Daniel 9 is one of the most important prophecy passages in the entire Bible.
Gabriel tells Daniel,
“Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city.” Daniel 9:24 KJV
Daniel’s people were Israel.
His holy city was Jerusalem.
The prophecy gives seventy sevens.
490 years.
Gabriel then separates the timeline into seven weeks, sixty two weeks and one final week.
Seven plus sixty two gives sixty nine weeks.
Sixty nine sevens gives 483 years.
Then Daniel says Messiah would come.
After that Messiah would be “cut off.”
Then the city and sanctuary would be destroyed.
Messiah appears.
Messiah is cut off.
Jerusalem is destroyed.
History records Jerusalem and the Temple being destroyed by Rome in AD 70.
Yet Daniel still has one week remaining.
Daniel 9:27 describes a ruler confirming a covenant for one week and then breaking it in the middle.
One week is seven years.
The middle is three and a half years.
Then Revelation starts giving us periods of forty two months and 1,260 days.
Three and a half years.
That is why Daniel’s seventieth week is still future.
Sixty nine weeks have run.
Seven years remain.
That final seven year period is what we normally refer to as the Tribulation.
Daniel’s clock is tied to Israel.
Israel is back.
That alone should make anybody who studies prophecy pay attention.
NOW WE GET TO THE 2,000 YEAR QUESTION:
Hosea writes this about Israel.
“Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us.”
Then he says,
“After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.” Hosea 6:1–2 KJV
Peter later writes,
“One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” 2 Peter 3:8 KJV
That verse does not mean every biblical day secretly equals exactly 1,000 years.
Peter wasn’t handing us a prophecy calculator.
Still, when Hosea is talking about Israel being revived after two days, the pattern is hard not to notice.
Two days.
Possibly 2,000 years.
Then restoration.
Jesus was crucified roughly 2,000 years ago.
AD 33 is one of the major proposed dates for the crucifixion.
Take AD 33 and add 2,000 years.
You arrive near AD 2033.
Then go back to Daniel.
If Daniel still has seven years remaining before the Messianic Kingdom, subtract seven years from 2033.
You land in 2026.
That right there is one of the biggest reasons 2026 keeps showing up in prophecy discussions.
The math is easy.
The assumptions behind the math are the part we need to be careful with.
AD 33 has to be the correct crucifixion year.
Hosea’s two days would have to carry a larger 2,000 year prophetic meaning.
2033 would have to mark the proper end point.
Daniel’s final seven years would have to fit immediately before it.
Those things are possible.
They are not stated as a dated formula anywhere in Scripture.
Still, 2026 showing up from that calculation is pretty hard for me to just shrug at.
Especially when you put it beside everything else.
LOOK AT ISRAEL:
Israel is not sitting peacefully in some forgotten corner of the world.
It sits in the middle of one of the most volatile regions on earth.
Iran remains one of Israel’s greatest enemies.
Hezbollah sits to the north.
Gaza remains a constant source of conflict.
Iran backed forces operate throughout the region.
Jerusalem remains one of the most contested cities on the planet.
Zechariah wrote,
“And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people.” Zechariah 12:3 KJV
Ezekiel 38 describes a future invasion involving a coalition of nations coming against Israel.
Persia is specifically named.
Persia is the ancient name associated with modern Iran.
I am not saying Ezekiel 38 is happening every time Iran launches something.
That kind of prophecy reporting gets ridiculous fast.
I am saying we live in a world where the nations named in these passages exist, Israel exists, the hostility exists and Jerusalem is once again at the center of world affairs.
That was not true for most of the last 2,000 years.
It is true now.
THEN WE GET TO THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS:
Leviticus 23 gives Israel seven appointed feasts.
Passover.
Unleavened Bread.
Firstfruits.
Pentecost.
Trumpets.
Atonement.
Tabernacles.
Look at the first four.
Jesus was crucified at Passover.
He was buried during Unleavened Bread.
He rose as the Firstfruits.
The Holy Spirit came at Pentecost.
Those connections are incredible.
Then there is a long gap before the fall feasts.
The next feast is Trumpets.
“In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets.” Leviticus 23:24 KJV
Now read Paul.
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16 KJV
Then the dead in Christ rise.
Then,
“We which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air.” 1 Thessalonians 4:17 KJV
Paul describes the same mystery again in Corinthians.
“We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.”
Then he tells us when.
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump.” 1 Corinthians 15:51–52 KJV
A biblical feast centered around trumpets.
The resurrection of the Church connected with a trumpet.
The transformation of living believers connected with a trumpet.
Our catching away connected with the trump of God.
You don’t have to be a prophecy nut to notice that.
The connection is sitting right there.
What is not sitting there is a verse saying,
“The rapture happens on the Feast of Trumpets.”
That verse does not exist.
THE “NO MAN KNOWS THE DAY OR HOUR” CLAIM
This is probably the part I see repeated the most.
People say the Feast of Trumpets was called “the day no man knows the day or hour” because the new moon had to be sighted before the feast could officially begin.
Then they say Jesus was secretly naming the Feast of Trumpets when He used that phrase.
Could there be an interesting connection there?
Sure.
Do I teach it as established first century fact?
No.
That claim gets repeated online far more confidently than the historical evidence deserves.
I don’t need it anyway.
Jesus does not need a hidden Jewish nickname added to His words for the trumpet connection to be worth studying.
THE SAME THING GOES FOR THE LAST TRUMP:
Another popular teaching says exactly 100 trumpet blasts were blown during Trumpets and the 100th blast was called “the last trump.”
Then Paul supposedly uses that exact technical phrase in 1 Corinthians 15.
Again, interesting.
Not nearly as airtight as people make it sound.
Jewish traditions and trumpet practices developed across time.
Paul definitely said “the last trump.”
The Feast of Trumpets definitely involves trumpets.
That is enough for me to study the connection without pretending we know more than we know.
SO HERE IS WHAT WE ACTUALLY HAVE:
Israel became a nation again in 1948.
That is fact.
The prophets said Israel would be gathered back into the land.
That is Scripture.
Daniel gave Israel seventy prophetic weeks.
That is Scripture.
Sixty nine lead to Messiah being cut off.
One seven year period remains in the prophecy.
That is Scripture.
Ezekiel was told to lie on his sides 390 days and 40 days, with each day representing a year.
That is Scripture.
Applying the sevenfold judgment of Leviticus to the remaining Ezekiel chronology and carrying it forward to 1948.
Hosea says Israel will be revived after two days.
That is Scripture.
Peter compares a day with the Lord to a thousand years.
That is Scripture.
Turning those passages into an exact 2,000 year countdown from the crucifixion is interpretation.
Using AD 33 and arriving at 2033 is arithmetic.
Subtracting Daniel’s seven years and landing in 2026 is arithmetic.
Whether God intended those passages to connect that way is the question.
Paul says Christ will descend with the trump of God and the Church will be caught up.
That is Scripture.
Paul says we will be changed at the last trump.
That is Scripture.
The Feast of Trumpets is a biblical feast centered around trumpet blowing.
That is Scripture.
Saying the rapture absolutely has to happen on that feast is speculation.
See the difference?
We do not have to throw the whole thing away because some people take it too far.
There really are some incredible prophetic pieces sitting in front of us.
Israel is back.
Daniel’s final week remains.
We are approaching 2,000 years from the time of Christ.
The Middle East is volatile.
Jerusalem is exactly where Scripture said it would be.
The Church is waiting for a trumpet.
The next biblical feast is Trumpets.
This year it begins September 11.
Maybe September comes and goes.
Maybe 2026 comes and goes.
If it does, I am not going to have a crisis of faith because my faith was never in a calendar.
Jesus Christ is coming back whether we correctly understand every prophetic pattern or not.
Until then, I’m going to keep studying it.
I’m going to keep watching Israel.
I’m going to keep watching the biblical calendar.
Most importantly, I’m going to keep preaching Jesus Christ.
There is enough real prophecy unfolding in front of us without turning guesses into doctrine.
Separate Bible fact from rapture fiction. Stay ready either way.
