KING MANASSEH: I don’t know why Manasseh isn’t talked about more. This wasn’t a decent king who made a few bad decisions. Manasseh was about as wicked as they came. He practiced witchcraft, used enchantments, dealt with familiar spirits, worshipped the stars, built pagan altars inside the temple and sacrificed his own children in the fire. The Bible says he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood. God warned him, but Manasseh wasn’t interested in listening. He had power, a crown and an entire nation following his lead. He probably thought nobody could touch him. Then Assyria showed up. They took the king, bound him in chains and carried him into Babylon. Manasseh had spent years refusing to bow before God. Once the crown was gone and the chains went on, he finally found his knees. “And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.” 2 Chronicles 33:12 KJV God heard him. After everything this man had done, God still listened when he truly humbled himself. God brought him back to Jerusalem and restored him to his kingdom. Manasseh came home a different man. He tore down the idols, removed the pagan altars, repaired the altar of the Lord and commanded Judah to serve the God of Israel. He couldn’t go backward and erase the blood. He couldn’t completely repair the damage he had done to the nation. Repentance doesn’t come with a time machine. Still, it was real. Manasseh proves that nobody is too wicked, too lost or too far gone for God to save. He also proves that sin will take a man farther than he ever planned on going. The throne couldn’t teach Manasseh what he needed to learn. Babylon did. #MoreJoyMinistries
