GOD NEVER TOLD JOB WHY There’s something incredible in the book of Job. We know what was happening. Job didn’t. He never knew Satan had stood before God. He never heard the conversation in heaven. He had no idea there was a spiritual reality behind everything happening to him. From Job’s point of view, his life had fallen apart and God had not explained Himself. Then God finally answered out of the whirlwind. And He still never told Job why. “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?” Job 38:4 KJV God doesn’t give Job a rundown of what happened behind the scenes. He gives him perspective. He starts with creation. The earth beneath Job’s feet, the sea with its boundaries, the stars above him, the movement of the heavens, the creatures Job could never control and forces Job could never see. And now we understand even more of what Job could not. The earth is moving through space at tremendous speed while rotating with precision. The moon remains in its course. Gravity governs the motion of worlds. Matter is held together by forces operating at a level invisible to the human eye. Atoms, particles, fields and laws of physics are working constantly beneath the surface of everything we touch. The heavens are so ordered that men have used them to measure seasons and time for thousands of years. Job is sitting in the dust asking whether God knows what He’s doing, and God is pointing him to a creation whose complexity Job couldn’t even begin to comprehend. That is the gravitas of the answer. Job, look around you. You’re standing inside something I designed, ordered and sustain every second. Do you really think your life somehow slipped outside My authority? That’s the lesson. Job could only see the small piece directly in front of him. God saw everything, including the part Job would never be told. We get chapters one and two. Job never did. By the end of the book he says, “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.” Job 42:5 KJV Job wanted an explanation for what God had allowed. God gave him a greater understanding of the God who allowed it. There are things in our lives we may never understand because we’re looking at one moment from ground level while God sees the entire thing. If He has not lost control of gravity, the stars, the oceans, the laws holding matter together or the universe itself, He has not lost control of you. Job never got the why. He learned just how enormous the WHO really was. #MoreJoyMinistries
