Genesis 6:4 describes the Nephilim as the offspring of the sons of God and the daughters of men. These individuals were prominent men of renown who lived during the days before the flood.
Their presence indicates a period of extreme wickedness and spiritual corruption upon the earth.
Numbers 13:33 records the report of the Israelite spies who claimed they saw the descendants of Anak among the Nephilim. The spies felt like grasshoppers in comparison to these giants.
This account highlights the overwhelming physical stature of those identified with that name.
Scripture remains the final authority on these mysterious beings. We must stick to what the text says without venturing into speculative mythology or extra-biblical fiction.
God preserves this history to illustrate the fallen nature of humanity and the necessity of His judgment.
