HULDAH THE PROPHETESS: (THE WOMAN GOD USED TO CONFIRM HIS WORD) Most people have never heard of Huldah, yet she played a powerful role in one of Israel’s greatest spiritual awakenings. Huldah appears during the reign of King Josiah, around 640–609 BC, during a time when Judah had fallen deep into idolatry and spiritual corruption. God’s Law had been neglected for generations. During temple repairs, priests discovered the lost Book of the Law. When it was read to King Josiah, he immediately realized how far the nation had drifted from God. Instead of ignoring the warning, Josiah humbled himself, tore his robes in repentance, and commanded his officials to seek a word from the Lord. They were sent to Huldah the prophetess. This alone reveals something important. In a nation filled with priests, scribes, and religious leaders, God’s prophetic voice at that moment came through Huldah. Her authority was recognized, respected, and trusted. Huldah delivered a message from God containing both judgment and mercy. She confirmed that the rediscovered Law was truly God’s Word and declared that judgment would eventually fall upon Judah because of long-term rebellion and idolatry. God had been patient, but the nation’s persistent rejection of Him would bring consequences. However, Huldah also delivered a personal message to King Josiah. Because he humbled himself before God, responded with repentance, and feared the Lord, God promised that Josiah would not live to see the coming destruction. God honored his humility. Huldah’s story teaches several powerful biblical truths. God’s Word may be neglected, hidden, or forgotten by people, but it never loses authority. Revival often begins when God’s Word is rediscovered and taken seriously. God uses whom He chooses. Huldah stands alongside other women God used prophetically, including Miriam, Deborah, and Anna. Most importantly, Huldah’s message shows that God responds to humility. National judgment may come when sin is ignored, but personal repentance always matters to God. The Hebrew word for prophetess is “Nevi’ah,” meaning a woman who speaks forth the message of God. Huldah did exactly that. She did not soften the truth. She did not chase popularity. She simply delivered God’s Word faithfully. - More Joy Ministries #MoreJoyMinistries
