WE WERE WARNED: I saw this comparison the other day and, yeah, it’s pretty wild. The movie 2012 came out in 2009. One of its most famous scenes shows a Buddhist monk in the Himalayas staring down an enormous wall of water coming through the mountains. This one was real. People lost homes, roads, bridges and lives. Water, mud, ice and rock came down those mountains with enough force to tear apart everything in front of it. Jesus already told us what kind of world we would be living in as we moved toward the end. “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Matthew 24:7-8 KJV That phrase “beginning of sorrows” is childbirth language. Birth pains. Christ’s point was never that one earthquake or one flood gives you the date of His return. His point was that this age is moving somewhere, and the closer it gets, the harder the contractions become to ignore. Paul said creation itself is groaning. “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.” Romans 8:22 KJV That’s a pretty accurate description of the world we’re watching. Mankind can build satellites, split atoms, map the human genome and put computers in our pockets, but one mountain gives way and suddenly we remember how small we are. This world isn’t permanent. It’s groaning under the curse, history is moving toward judgment, and Jesus Christ is coming back. “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Matthew 24:35 KJV #MoreJoyMinistries
