DISCIPLES ARE SUPPOSED TO MAKE DISCIPLES: Jesus didn’t tell us to collect converts, fill buildings and leave every Christian’s spiritual growth to the pastor. He said: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations… Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19–20 KJV The word translated “teach” carries the command to make disciples. Jesus’ plan was never for a small group of professionals to do all the work while everyone else watched. Every disciple was supposed to grow, then turn around and help somebody else grow. Research from Barna found that only 33% of Christians are actively helping someone move closer to Christ. That means roughly two-thirds of professing Christians aren’t making disciples. That should bother us. We’ve created a version of Christianity where people can attend church for twenty years, listen to hundreds of sermons and never personally teach another believer how to study Scripture, pray, resist temptation, share the Gospel or follow Christ through hard times. Discipleship isn’t just inviting somebody to church or sending them a Christian post. It means getting involved in someone’s life. Open the Bible with them. Answer their questions. Pray with them. Correct them when they’re wrong. Encourage them when they’re weak. Show them how to follow Jesus, then teach them to do the same for someone else. Paul described the pattern clearly: “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2 KJV Paul taught Timothy. Timothy was to teach faithful men. Those men were to teach others. That is multiplication. A lot of Christians feel like they don’t know enough. You don’t have to know everything. Start with what Christ has already taught you. Find someone younger in the faith and walk beside them. Study together. Pray together. Grow together. The Church won’t change by producing more spectators. It will change when disciples begin making disciples who make more disciples. Who are you helping follow Jesus? #MoreJoyMinistries
