(Do Not Cast Your Pearls Before Swine) (Matthew 7:6) > “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.” - 🐕🐖 Context in Scripture - Under Mosaic Law, dogs and pigs were considered unclean animals. - Dogs were not pets but scavengers; pigs symbolized impurity. - “Holy” refers to the truth of God. Jesus warns us: don’t present God’s truth to those who willfully reject it. - 🚫 Forcing the Gospel: - We are called to share the gospel with all, but not to force it. - Once someone rejects the message, the responsibility is theirs. - Jesus Himself refused to speak to Herod (Luke 23:9). - Paul also drew limits when people rejected the Word (Acts 13:46). - 📖 Supporting Scriptures: - “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16) - “Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, For he will despise the wisdom of your words.” (Proverbs 23:9) - “A dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.” (Proverbs 26:11) - “A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.” (2 Peter 2:22) Dogs and pigs represent those who ridicule, reject, and blaspheme the gospel. 🕊️ Discernment in Evangelism: - Christians are given discernment (1 Corinthians 2:15–16). - We must recognize when the gospel is being mocked rather than received. - Jesus taught sinners and tax collectors (Matthew 9:10), but He also said: > “If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.” (Matthew 10:14) - 🌱 The Takeaway: Our mission: share the good news faithfully. Their choice: accept or reject. Our response: move on when it’s rejected. Pigs don’t value pearls. Some hearts don’t value Christ. But others are waiting—ready to hear and receive the gospel. 🔥 Be wise, be gentle, and keep sowing where the soil is ready. - More Joy Ministries
