Dispensationalism offers the most accurate, literal method for interpreting Scripture. It maintains a necessary distinction between Israel and the Church. We categorize history into seven distinct eras: Innocence, Conscience, Government, Promise, Law, Grace, and the Millennial Kingdom. In each, we observe a cycle where God assigns responsibility, man fails, God judges that failure, and finally, God extends grace. The dispensation of Innocence covers Genesis 1:28 through 3:19. This era spanned from the creation of man until the fall. Adam and Eve were responsible for obeying God as outlined in Genesis 1:26-28 and 2:15-17. They failed through disobedience as recorded in Genesis 3:1-6, leading to the judgment of the curse and death in Genesis 3:7-19. God showed grace by promising a future Redeemer in Genesis 3:15. Innocence stands as the shortest dispensation. God created man for perfect harmony with Himself, entirely void of evil or imperfection. Adam and Eve were made in God's image, possessing eternal souls, free will, and the capacity to procreate. They walked with their Creator, who interacted directly with them according to Genesis 2:15. Adam and Eve remained innocent until they chose to disobey. This act brought sin and death into the world, infecting every generation that followed as noted in Romans 5:12. They immediately lost their innocence and hid from God in shame. Their attempts to cover their own sin failed completely. God pronounced judgment upon them, yet He also demonstrated mercy. He killed an animal to provide skins for their atonement, exposing the inadequacy of human works. This act established the biblical principle that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness according to Hebrews 9:22. The ultimate solution to this sin problem appeared in the promise of Genesis 3:15. God declared that He would send a Redeemer born of a woman. This Savior would be truly innocent and provide a way out of the sin nature inherited from Adam. Jesus Christ is the Last Adam described in 1 Corinthians 15:45. He offered Himself as the final sacrifice for all who trust in Him as stated in 1 Peter 3:18. #MoreJoyMinistries
