DO ALL RELIGIONS LEAD TO GOD? One of the most common ideas in our world today is that all religions lead to God. For many sincere truth-seekers, the sheer number of religions can be confusing. Some eventually give up on the idea of knowing absolute truth at all. Others embrace universalism—the belief that every spiritual path ultimately reaches the same destination. Skeptics, meanwhile, often argue that the existence of so many religions proves either that God cannot be known, or that God does not exist at all. But Scripture gives a very different explanation. According to Romans 1:19–21, the truth about God is not hidden or inaccessible. God has made Himself known to every human being. His existence and power are clearly perceived through what He has made, leaving mankind without excuse. The problem is not lack of revelation—the problem is rejection. Instead of honoring the truth God has revealed, humanity suppresses it. Rather than submitting to God as He is, people attempt to redefine Him. This is where the explosion of religions begins. The diversity of belief systems is not evidence that truth is unclear; it is evidence that truth has been resisted. Many people do not want a God who demands righteousness, so they create a god who overlooks sin. Many do not want a God who says salvation cannot be earned, so they invent systems of rules, rituals, or moral ladders to climb. Many do not want a sovereign, personal God who reigns and judges, so they reshape God into a vague force, an inner energy, or an abstract idea. But reshaping God does not bring enlightenment—it leads to futility of thinking. The existence of many religions is not an argument against God. It is a demonstration of humanity’s attempt to replace the true God with gods that are more comfortable, more manageable, and more flattering to human pride. Scripture warns that this impulse flows from our fallen nature, and that it ultimately leads to destruction rather than life (Galatians 6:7–8). So, do all religions lead to God? No. All people—religious or not—will stand before God one day (Hebrews 9:27). But religious affiliation is not what determines eternal destiny. Salvation is not found in rituals, moral effort, spiritual experiences, or sincerity. It is found in a Person. “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:12) Jesus did not present Himself as one option among many. He declared, plainly and unapologetically, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6) That means truth matters. Belief matters. Eternity matters. Choosing what to believe about Jesus Christ is not a small decision—it is the most important one a person will ever make. Eternity is far too long to be wrong about who God is and how we are made right with Him. - More Joy Ministries #MoreJoyMinistries
