IS JESUS GOD? THE BIBLE’S ANSWER IS YES:
Jesus is not merely a prophet, teacher, or created being. Scripture presents Him as fully God and fully man: one Person with two natures.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (John 1:1,14)
Thomas looked at the risen Christ and said, “My Lord and my God!”
Jesus did not correct him - He accepted the worship. (John 20:28)
Jesus Himself declared, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” (John 8:58)
The Jews tried to stone Him for blasphemy because they understood He was claiming the divine name from Exodus 3:14.
“I and the Father are one.” (John 10:30)
Again, His hearers said, “You, being a man, make Yourself God.” (John 10:33)
Jesus forgave sins (Mark 2:5–7), received worship (Matthew 14:33), commanded nature (Mark 4:39), and claimed all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18) - things only God can do.
The Father Himself calls the Son “God”:
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.” (Hebrews 1:8)
The Bible teaches one God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Not three gods. One God, one divine nature, three distinct Persons.
Why does this matter?
If Jesus is not God, His death cannot fully atone for sin.
He cannot give eternal life.
He cannot be the final Judge.
And worshiping Him would be idolatry.
But Scripture says:
“In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” (Colossians 2:9)
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)
Jesus is God in human flesh - the eternal Son who entered time to save sinners.
That is the heart of the Gospel.
