Jesus — Yeshua (ישוע)
“But what about you?” He asked. “Who do you say I am?” (Matthew 16:15)
This question still stands at the center of every life.
Jesus did not merely claim to be like God. He claimed to be God.
“I and the Father are one” (John 10:30).
From the very beginning, His followers understood this clearly. Jesus was more than a prophet, more than a teacher, more than a moral example. Though many throughout history claimed to be the Messiah, only Jesus’ followers proclaimed—at the cost of their lives—that He rose from the dead and continues to live through the Holy Spirit.
Romans 1:4 declares that He was “appointed the Son of God in power by His resurrection from the dead—Jesus Christ our Lord.”
The earliest believers left no room for ambiguity. Peter proclaimed openly, “God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah” (Acts 2:36). Stephen became the first martyr for this confession. To them, Jesus was nothing less than the resurrected Lord.
The prophets foretold Him: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given… and He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
Jesus Is Peace
“He Himself is our peace” (Ephesians 2:14).
The peace Jesus gives is not temporary or circumstantial. He does not merely offer peace—He is peace. As we surrender our lives to Him, His peace guards our hearts and minds beyond all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Jesus Is Hope
“In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3).
This hope cannot be taken away. It is living, eternal, and unshakable—rooted in the resurrection. Our hope is not in governments, systems, or utopias, but in the sovereign God who is restoring all things to Himself.
Jesus Is Life
“If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith” (1 Corinthians 15:14).
Jesus is the author of life and the conqueror of death. Because He lives, those who believe in Him are promised eternal life (John 3:36). Without the resurrection, the gospel is only tragedy. With it, everything has meaning—now and forever.
Jesus Is Joy
“I have told you this so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete” (John 15:11).
Joy is not the absence of sorrow; it is the presence of Christ. Happiness depends on circumstances, but joy is rooted in who Jesus is and who we are in Him. Even in suffering, believers can be “sorrowful, yet always rejoicing” (2 Corinthians 6:10).
Jesus Is Love
“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love” (1 John 4:8).
God does not merely show love—He is love. His love is unconditional, undeserved, and unstoppable. We do not clean ourselves up to receive it; we are made clean through Jesus’ death and resurrection. His love never fails and is available to all who seek Him.
Who Is Jesus Christ?
(Compiled by Dr. Chuck Missler)
Jesus is King of the Jews, King of Israel, King of all ages, King of glory, King of heaven, King of kings and Lord of lords.
He is a prophet before Moses, a priest after Melchizedek, a champion like Joshua, an offering in place of Isaac, a king from the line of David, a counselor greater than Solomon, a beloved and rejected son like Joseph—yet far more.
He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Aleph and the Tav, the First and the Last. He is the “I AM,” the voice from the burning bush, the Captain of the Lord’s hosts, the conqueror of Jericho.
In Him dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily. He is our Kinsman Redeemer, our City of Refuge, our High Priest, our Prophet, and our reigning King.
He was crucified on a cross of wood—yet He made the hill on which it stood. What held Him there was not the nails, but His love for you and for me.
He humbled Himself so we could be lifted up.
He became a servant so we could become co-heirs.
He was rejected so we could be accepted.
He gave Himself so He could bless us in every way.
He forgives sinners, heals the sick, strengthens the weak, delivers captives, guards the oppressed, rewards the diligent, and saves completely.
He is indescribable, irresistible, incomprehensible, and invincible.
Death could not hold Him. The grave could not keep Him.
He has no predecessor and no successor. His name is above every name—the name of Jesus Christ, Yeshua.
Every knee will bow. Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
He is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory—forever and ever. Amen.
