HOW DOES JESUS SPEAK TO US? A lot of people say, “Jesus told me…” but how does He actually speak? Not through random feelings. Not through emotional impulses. Not through mystical whispers detached from Scripture. Jesus is not silent, but He is not chaotic either. First, He speaks through His Word. “My sheep hear my voice…” John 10:27. How do we hear it? Through the Bible. All Scripture is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16). The Word is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). When you open your Bible, you are not reading dead ink. You are encountering the revealed mind of Christ. The Holy Spirit illuminates what is written. He does not contradict it. He applies it. If someone claims Jesus told them something that opposes Scripture, it was not Jesus. Second, He speaks through the Holy Spirit’s conviction. Jesus said the Spirit would guide believers into truth (John 16:13). This is not usually an audible voice. It is conviction, clarity, a check in your spirit, a strong awareness that something is right or wrong. The Spirit magnifies Christ. He does not magnify your ego. If what you “heard” feeds pride, excuses sin, or creates confusion, slow down. Third, He speaks through providence. Open doors. Closed doors. Delays. Interruptions. Redirection. But circumstances do not override Scripture. An open door is not automatically God’s will. Everything must align with His character and His Word. Fourth, He speaks through wise counsel. There is safety in many counselors. God uses mature believers to sharpen and correct us. They do not replace Scripture. They help apply it. Here is the bottom line. If you want to hear Jesus more clearly, do not chase signs. Open your Bible. Pray. Obey what you already know. Remove compromise. Clarity increases with obedience. - More Joy Ministries - Tony Campbell #MoreJoyMinistries
