THE 12 STONES OF THE NEW JERUSALEM: John is shown something astonishing. The New Jerusalem does not rest on concrete or earth, but on twelve precious foundation stones, each laid by God Himself. These are not decorations. They are the very foundations of the eternal city. Each foundation stone bears the name of one of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. This tells us something profound: eternity is built on God’s revealed truth, testified through those Christ personally appointed. The city of God rests on truth, not tradition. The stones themselves—jasper, sapphire, chalcedony, emerald, sardonyx, sardius, chrysolite, beryl, topaz, chrysoprase, jacinth, and amethyst—are radiant, colorful, and filled with light. Scripture emphasizes brilliance, clarity, and beauty because God’s dwelling place is not dim or shadowed. It is a city saturated with glory. This imagery reaches back to the Old Testament. The stones closely parallel those worn on the High Priest’s breastplate in Exodus 28. What was once carried over the heart of the priest is now embedded permanently into the foundation of God’s eternal city. What was temporary has become everlasting. Light is a major theme in Revelation. These stones are not valuable because of wealth, but because of how they refract glory. God’s presence does not merely illuminate the city—it passes through it. The New Jerusalem is designed to display His holiness in every direction. This is not symbolism meant to confuse us. It is meant to assure us. God is preparing a real city, with real structure, rooted in real truth, for a redeemed people. Eternity is not floating clouds—it is a prepared place, built by a faithful God. “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.” Revelation 21:23 - More Joy Ministries #MoreJoyMinistries
