OUR JOBS DURING THE MILLENNIUM A lot of Christians picture the Millennial Kingdom like a thousand-year vacation. Scripture gives us a much bigger picture. We’ll be serving, governing and carrying real responsibility under Jesus Christ. Jesus will rule the nations from Jerusalem as King of kings. The law will go forth from Zion, the nations will come to worship Him, and the whole earth will finally know righteous government. “Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.” Psalm 2:6 KJV King David will also have a place of authority over Israel. Ezekiel says God will raise up David as a shepherd and prince. “And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd.” Ezekiel 37:24 KJV David won’t replace Jesus. Christ is the supreme King. David will rule under Him, serving in the position God promised him. What about the rest of us? Revelation says believers will reign with Christ for a thousand years. Jesus also taught that faithfulness in this life will affect the responsibility entrusted to us in His Kingdom. In the parable of the pounds, one faithful servant was given authority over ten cities, while another was placed over five. “Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.” Luke 19:17 KJV Scripture doesn’t give us a complete job chart, but it gives us enough to understand the pattern. Christ will be ruling from Jerusalem, David will be governing Israel under Him, and glorified believers will be sent throughout the Kingdom to serve, judge and administer His righteous rule. Some may oversee cities. Others may govern regions, teach the nations, settle disputes or carry out assignments we can’t fully understand yet. The Kingdom will have structure, authority and work to be done. This is why faithfulness now is so important. Salvation is entirely by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We don’t earn eternal life by serving harder. Our service does affect reward, position and responsibility in the coming Kingdom. Jesus is watching what we do with the time, gifts, opportunities and truth He has already placed in our hands. The person who can’t be trusted with something small shouldn’t expect to be placed over something great. Your life right now is preparation for the Kingdom. Stay faithful when nobody notices. Serve Christ when there’s no applause. Handle what He has given you with integrity, because this age is temporary, but the responsibility He gives His faithful servants may last for a thousand years. “If we suffer, we shall also reign with him.” 2 Timothy 2:12 KJV The Millennium isn’t retirement. It’s the righteous government of Jesus Christ, and His faithful servants will have work to do. #MoreJoyMinistries
