WHY ARE TRIBULATION SAINTS BEHEADED: (AND WHAT DOES IT SAY ABOUT FAITH TODAY Revelation 20:4 gives one of the most sobering pictures in prophetic Scripture: “And I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God… and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands.” Many people ask a hard but honest question when reading this passage. If salvation is by grace through faith, why do Tribulation believers face such severe persecution, even martyrdom? And does this connect to people rejecting faith now? Scripture shows that the Tribulation is a unique period in history. It is not the Church Age. The Church Age is marked by the global proclamation of grace through faith before God pours out His final judgments on rebellious world systems. During this present age, salvation is offered freely to anyone who calls on Christ. The Holy Spirit restrains the full rise of global lawlessness and deception. The Tribulation, however, begins after the removal of that restraint. The Antichrist establishes a global system demanding worship and allegiance. Revelation 13 explains that participation in the economic system will require receiving the mark of the beast. Refusing that mark will likely result in death. Faith during this time will not be hidden or casual. It will be tested publicly and violently. This does not mean Tribulation saints are saved by martyrdom. They are still saved by faith in Jesus Christ. Their execution is the consequence of refusing to deny Christ under a totalitarian system that criminalizes loyalty to Him. Their deaths become testimony, not payment for salvation. Scripture also reveals something deeply important about opportunity. God repeatedly calls people to respond to truth when it is clearly presented. Throughout history, God sends warnings, conviction, and invitation before judgment intensifies. The Bible shows a consistent pattern: rejected light often leads to stronger deception later. Second Thessalonians 2 describes a future time when those who repeatedly reject truth will be more vulnerable to believing powerful delusion. This does not mean someone cannot be saved later. Revelation clearly shows multitudes coming to faith during the Tribulation. But it does reveal that rejecting conviction now can harden the heart and make faith more difficult later. Tribulation believers will face extreme external pressure. Today’s world often pressures believers socially, culturally, or intellectually. The Tribulation will pressure believers economically, legally, and physically. The contrast highlights how valuable spiritual responsiveness is right now. The message is not fear. The message is urgency and grace. God’s desire has always been restoration, not destruction. Scripture consistently shows God warning before judging, calling before disciplining, and offering mercy before allowing consequences. The courage of Tribulation martyrs reminds believers of the cost of discipleship while also revealing the depth of Christ’s worth. They will refuse the mark because they recognize that temporary survival is not worth eternal separation from God. Faith today is an invitation. Faith in the Tribulation will often become a final stand. Revelation shows that those who remain faithful, even unto death, will reign with Christ. Their story is not one of defeat. It is one of ultimate victory. - More Joy Ministries - Tony Campbell #MoreJoyMinistries
