A Follow-Up Thought on the Tribulation: One of the most common objections I hear after laying out the Tribulation timeline is this: “Christians have always suffered. Why would we be removed before this?” That question sounds spiritual—but it actually confuses two very different things. The Bible clearly distinguishes between the persecution of believers by the world and the wrath of God poured out on an unbelieving world. Jesus promised tribulation in this world. He never promised the Church exemption from persecution, hardship, or martyrdom at the hands of men. The apostles lived it. The early Church lived it. Many believers around the world are living it right now. But the Tribulation is not persecution. The Tribulation is judgment. Scripture is explicit: “God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:9). From Revelation 6 onward, the judgments are not caused by men alone. They are opened by Christ, sent from heaven, and repeatedly described as the wrath of the Lamb. That matters. The Church is called the Bride of Christ. Wrath is never poured out on the Bride. Judgment falls on a world that has rejected truth, rejected grace, and rejected the gospel—after the restrainer is removed. This is why the Church disappears from the earth after Revelation 3 and does not reappear until Revelation 19—returning with Christ, not fleeing from Him. This is also why evangelism during the Tribulation shifts back to Israel. God keeps His promises. The Church age closes. Israel’s clock resumes. Grace is still offered, but the cost is unimaginably high. Pre-Tribulation teaching is not fear-based. It is wrath-aware. It is grace-consistent. And it is text-driven. You don’t have to agree with me—but you do have to deal honestly with the text. Scripture deserves that much. - Tony Campbell - More Joy Ministries
