📖 WHY A PRETRIBULATION RAPTURE? A clear, Scripture-based case for why the Church is taken before Daniel’s 70th Week. This study isn’t here to attack other views — but to show why the combined weight of Scripture strongly supports a Pretribulational Rapture. Not one argument alone, but the cumulative force of many. 🔹 WHAT DOES “RAPTURE” MEAN? Our English word rapture comes from the Latin raptura / rapio — the same word behind the Greek harpazo (used 14 times in the NT), meaning: 👉 “to snatch away suddenly.” Uses in Scripture include: stealing / plundering (Matt. 11:12; 12:29; 13:19; John 10:12, 28–29) removing / seizing (John 6:15; Acts 8:39; 23:10; Jude 23) catching up to heaven (2 Cor. 12:2,4) Perfect language for Christ suddenly taking the church to Himself (1 Thess. 4). 🔹 WILL THERE BE A RAPTURE? YES — 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 and 1 Corinthians 15:51–52 describe it undeniably: The Lord descends The dead rise The living are “caught up” All are changed “in a moment” Both texts describe the same eschatological event. 🔹 WILL THE RAPTURE BE PARTIAL OR FULL? Some argue only “worthy” believers will be taken. But Scripture says: ✔ “ALL will be changed.” (1 Cor. 15:51) ✔ Partial rapture would require partial resurrection (never taught). ✔ It destroys the purpose of the Judgment Seat of Christ. ✔ It creates an earthly purgatory for believers. ✔ It is nowhere taught in Scripture. 🔑 Conclusion: The Rapture is FULL — all true believers are taken. 🔥 WHY THE RAPTURE MUST BE PRETRIBULATIONAL Here are the 7 strongest biblical reasons: 1️⃣ The Church disappears in Revelation 6–18 “Church” (ekklesia) appears 19 times in Rev 1–3. Zero times during Daniel’s 70th Week (Rev 6–18). Rev 4–19 focuses on Israel (Rev 7, 12, 14), not the Church. ➡️ The simplest explanation: the Church has been removed before the Tribulation begins. 2️⃣ A Post-Trib Rapture Makes the Rapture Pointless If believers are protected through the Tribulation: Why rapture them at all? Why resurrect the dead at the same moment if the goal is merely survival? Who populates the Millennium if all believers are glorified? When do the Bema Seat (1 Cor. 3) and Marriage Supper (Rev 19) occur? ➡️ Only Pretribulationism avoids these contradictions. 3️⃣ The Epistles NEVER warn the Church to prepare for the Tribulation The epistles warn about: false teachers persecution holy living But never once warn the Church to prepare for: ✔ Antichrist ✔ Seals ✔ Trumpets ✔ Bowls ✔ Global judgment ➡️ Silence = the Church won’t be here. 4️⃣ 1 Thessalonians 4 only fits a Pretrib Rapture If the church expected to endure the Tribulation, the Thessalonians would be grieving about their own suffering. Instead, they feared their loved ones would miss the rapture. ➡️ They expected the rapture before God’s wrath. 5️⃣ John 14:1–3 matches 1 Thessalonians 4 Both promise: Presence with Christ Comfort Christ receiving believers to Himself In the Father’s House A Post-Trib rapture leaves no time for believers to go to heaven as Christ promised. ➡️ Pretribulational timing fits perfectly. 6️⃣ The Rapture and Second Coming Are Completely Different Events At the Rapture: Christ comes for His own (1 Thess. 4) Believers go up Resurrection is central No judgment of unbelievers No earthly kingdom established Believers receive glorified bodies At the Second Coming: Christ comes with His own (Rev 19) Believers stay on earth Judgment is central Unbelievers are removed Kingdom is established No glorification occurs ➡️ These cannot be the same event. 7️⃣ Revelation 3:10 promises removal from the Time of Testing The Greek phrase tereo ek means: 👉 “to keep out of,” not “to protect within.” John 17:15 uses the same phrase — Christ prays believers be kept out of the evil one, not protected inside him. 🔥 If Rev 3:10 meant protection within the Tribulation: Why are believers being slaughtered in Rev 6 & 7? Why does it contradict John 17:15? ➡️ The promise is clear: the Church is kept OUT of the hour, not preserved inside it. 📌 FINAL SUMMARY A Pretribulational Rapture best explains: ✔ The absence of the church in Revelation 6–18 ✔ The purpose of the Bema Seat & Marriage Supper ✔ The population of the Millennial Kingdom ✔ John 14’s promise of going to the Father’s house ✔ The Thessalonians’ fear of missing the rapture ✔ The silence of the epistles on tribulation prep ✔ The differences between the Rapture & Second Coming ✔ The meaning of tereo ek in Revelation 3:10 👉 Pretribulationism is not based on one argument — but on all of them together. - More Joy Ministries
