First John 1:5 states that God is light. The Bible frequently uses light as a metaphor for righteousness and goodness. Proverbs 4:18 describes righteousness like the morning sun, while Philippians 2:15 compares blameless believers to shining stars. Jesus also used light to describe good works in Matthew 5:16 and Psalm 76:4 declares God is radiant with light. God being light creates a sharp contrast with darkness, which signifies evil and sin. First John 1:6 warns that claiming fellowship with Him while walking in darkness is a lie. Scripture tells us God is not merely a light, but He is light itself. This means He is absolutely holy with no trace of sin or injustice. Those who know God must walk in His light. By doing so, they partake in His divine nature as described in 2 Peter 1:4. Jesus affirms this identity in John 8:12 by stating He is the light of the world, promising that those who follow Him will never walk in darkness. Walking in the light requires progress. We are meant to grow in holiness and mature in our faith as we follow Him. First Thessalonians 5:5 reminds us that we are children of the light and do not belong to the darkness. God provides both physical light and the spiritual truth that exposes what is hidden. Believers must confess their personal sins to allow God to shine through them. We cannot remain idle while others live in darkness and face eternal separation from Him. The Light of the World intends to banish darkness and share His wisdom through us as seen in Isaiah 9:2 and Habakkuk 2:14. Bringing the gospel to the world reveals truths people would prefer to hide because light is uncomfortable to those living in the dark. Jesus is the true light of John 1:9. Our mission is to reflect His light so that the eyes of the unsaved are opened and they are turned from darkness to God according to Acts 26:18. #MoreJoyMinistries
