There is a common saying that you cannot keep a good man down. This is the core meaning of Proverbs 24:16. The Scripture states: For though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again. A person who depends on God may trip repeatedly, but he will not remain on the ground. He overcomes obstacles by the grace of God and gets back up. Conversely, the wicked are easily overthrown. One disaster is enough to ruin them because they lack the power to recover from adversity. Proverbs 24:16, NLT. Solomon often contrasts the paths of the righteous and the wicked. These two roads lead to opposite destinations. Righteousness leads to what is good, while wickedness ends in destruction. God’s Word promises blessings for those who do what is right and warns of disaster for the ungodly. A righteous man is defined by moral character, honesty, and principle. The Hebrew term for falling can mean a literal loss of balance or experiencing a major life tragedy. Rising again means getting back on one's feet and overcoming disaster to prosper once more. Falling seven times suggests frequent struggle. In Scripture, seven often symbolizes completeness. It signifies that even if a setback seems final, it is only temporary. The righteous man is destined to stand up again. Resilience is a blessing for those walking in righteousness. The Lord directs the steps of the godly and delights in them. Even if they stumble, they will never fall because the Lord holds them by the hand. Psalm 37:23–24, NLT. The righteous can speak against their enemies with confidence: Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light. Micah 7:8, NLT. Godly people are not immune to hardship, loss, or the attacks of the enemy. Scripture does not promise an easy life free of trials. However, the Lord watches over His children. He stays with us in trouble to deliver and honor us. We can trust God to rescue us from every misfortune. He hears the cries of the righteous and answers them. He upholds us when we stumble and sets our feet on solid ground. Believers need not fear the plots of evil men because God will raise the righteous from defeat. We must not allow personal shortcomings to keep us discouraged. Our victory over sin and death is secured through Jesus Christ. God provides the strength to start over and succeed regardless of how many times we stumble. #MoreJoyMinistries
