The Water Cycle — Science Catches Up to Scripture Thousands of rivers, every hour, pour billions of gallons of water into the oceans. The Mississippi River alone discharges over six million gallons every second into the Gulf of Mexico. That raises obvious questions. Where does all this water come from? Where does it go? Why doesn’t the sea level keep rising? For centuries, no one had a complete answer. It wasn’t until the 17th century that scientists formally described what we now call the hydrologic (water) cycle. Water flows from rivers into the seas. Water evaporates from the oceans into the atmosphere. Water condenses into clouds and returns as rain. Water drains back through the land into rivers—again and again. What’s remarkable is that Scripture described this process thousands of years earlier, not as a discovery of man, but as the ongoing work of the Creator. Amos wrote nearly 2,800 years ago: “He who calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the face of the earth— The Lord is His name.” (Amos 9:6) The book of Job, written around 2000 BC, says: “For He draws up the drops of water, They distill rain from the mist, Which the clouds pour down; They drip upon man abundantly.” (Job 36:27–28) “He wraps up the waters in His clouds, And the cloud does not burst under them.” (Job 26:8) And Solomon observed around 950 BC: “All the rivers flow into the sea, Yet the sea is not full. To the place where the rivers flow, There they flow again.” (Ecclesiastes 1:7) Long before modern terminology, Scripture recognized a closed, balanced system—governed, sustained, and ordered by God Himself. Science eventually described how it works. The Bible already told us who made it work. - More Joy Ministries #CreationTestifies #BibleAndScience #WaterCycle #ScriptureTruth #MoreJoyMinistries
