🌈 The Rainbow: God’s Covenant, Not Man’s Symbol The rainbow has been claimed by many groups in recent years as a symbol of identity or ideology. But long before modern movements existed, God Himself gave the rainbow its meaning. Scripture calls it “My bow” (Genesis 9:13). It belongs to Him. The first rainbow appears after the Flood, when God speaks to Noah and establishes a covenant with the entire earth. “I have set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.” (Genesis 9:13) That covenant was clear and global: God promised never again to destroy all flesh with a flood. Every time a rainbow appears, it testifies that God is faithful to His word—not just to Noah, but to “every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth” (Genesis 9:17). Interestingly, God says the rainbow is something He Himself “remembers.” “When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant
” (Genesis 9:14–16) This is not because God forgets. It is covenant language—assurance that God will always act in faithfulness to His promise. Throughout Scripture, clouds often symbolize judgment, calamity, and divine intervention (Ezekiel 30:3). In Noah’s day, clouds meant destruction. Yet God placed the rainbow inside the clouds. When storm clouds gather and judgment comes to mind, God places a visible reminder of mercy in the sky. Light in the midst of darkness. Grace standing against judgment. Other biblical appearances of the rainbow are always connected to God’s glory and power: - Ezekiel sees the rainbow surrounding the brilliance of God’s presence (Ezekiel 1:28). - John sees a rainbow encircling God’s throne in heaven (Revelation 4:2–3). - A mighty angel descends from heaven with a rainbow over his head (Revelation 10:1). Every biblical rainbow points upward—to God’s majesty, holiness, covenant faithfulness, and glory. God said this sign was given “for all future generations” (Genesis 9:12). That includes us. So when you see a rainbow today, remember this: It is not a political symbol. It is not an ideological banner. It is a divine sign. A reminder that God keeps His promises. A testimony that mercy still stands. A glimpse of the glory of the One who reigns over heaven and earth. 🌈 The rainbow belongs to God. - Tony Campbell #CovenantKeeper #GodsPromises #Genesis9 #BiblicalTruth #CreationDeclares #MoreJoyMinistries #mojowaterandlight
