RAPTURE BEFORE THE TRIBULATION: A FULL BIBLE STUDY- (The Church Removed Before Daniel’s 70th Week) If a prophetic position is truly biblical, it must stand on the full testimony of Scripture. It must agree with the words of Jesus, align with the teachings of Paul, fit Daniel’s prophetic timeline, and flow naturally within Revelation’s sequence. When those four pieces are placed together, the pre-tribulation rapture presents the clearest and most consistent framework. This study is not written to create confusion, but to remove it. Let’s walk through the biblical case that the catching away of the Church occurs before the seven-year Tribulation and before Daniel’s 70th Week begins. SECTION 1 - THE RAPTURE IS BIBLICAL AND DISTINCT FROM THE SECOND COMING: Scripture directly describes a future event where believers are caught up to meet Christ. 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 says the Lord will descend from heaven with a shout, the dead in Christ will rise first, and living believers will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. This passage describes believers meeting Christ in the air, not Christ returning to earth. 1 Corinthians 15:51–52 adds that this event is a mystery previously unrevealed. Believers are instantly transformed in the twinkling of an eye. Now compare that with descriptions of the Second Coming. Revelation 19 shows Christ returning visibly on a white horse with the armies of heaven following Him. Zechariah 14:4 states His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives. Acts 1:11 confirms Jesus will return to earth in the same visible manner He ascended. Scripture presents two different events. In the rapture, Christ comes for His saints and believers meet Him in the air. In the Second Coming, Christ returns with His saints to the earth in judgment. SECTION 2 - THE TRIBULATION IS GOD’S WRATH AND THE CHURCH IS NOT APPOINTED TO WRATH: Pre-tribulation teaching rises or falls on this point. If the Tribulation represents God’s wrath and the Church is promised deliverance from wrath, then the Church must be removed before that period begins. 1 Thessalonians 1:10 says Jesus delivers believers from the wrath to come. 1 Thessalonians 5:9 declares that God has not appointed believers to wrath. Romans 5:9 promises salvation from wrath through Christ. Revelation repeatedly identifies the Tribulation as divine wrath. Revelation 6:16-17 calls it the wrath of the Lamb. Revelation 15:1 and 16:1 describe judgments that complete the wrath of God. If the Tribulation is the outpouring of divine wrath and the Church is promised deliverance from that wrath, removal of the Church before the Tribulation is the natural conclusion. SECTION 3 - REVELATION 3:10 PROMISES DELIVERANCE FROM THE GLOBAL HOUR OF TRIAL: Revelation 3:10 records Christ promising to keep believers from the hour of testing that will come upon the entire world to test those who dwell on the earth. The promise is not merely protection through trials, but protection from the time period itself. The description matches the global scope of the Tribulation. SECTION 4 - DANIEL’S 70 WEEKS FOCUS ON ISRAEL, NOT THE CHURCH: Daniel 9:24 states that seventy weeks are determined for Daniel’s people and his holy city. Daniel’s people are Israel, and his holy city is Jerusalem. This establishes the focus of the prophecy. The Church is later revealed as a mystery in passages such as Ephesians 3:3–6 and Colossians 1:26–27. The Tribulation is also called “the time of Jacob’s trouble” in Jeremiah 30:7, again pointing to Israel. The 70th Week represents the continuation of God’s prophetic program with Israel following the Church age. SECTION 5 - THE 70TH WEEK BEGINS WITH A COVENANT, NOT THE RAPTURE: Daniel 9:27 states that the final seven-year period begins when the coming prince confirms a covenant for one week. The rapture is not the trigger for the Tribulation. The covenant is. SECTION 6 - THE CHURCH IS ABSENT FROM EARTH IN REVELATION 6–18 Revelation chapters 1–3 repeatedly address the Church. In Revelation 4:1, John is called up to heaven, and the narrative shifts to heavenly scenes followed by earth’s judgments. From Revelation 6 through 18, Scripture describes Israel, the nations, tribulation believers, and judgment events. The Church is never addressed or instructed as congregations during this period, which strongly suggests the Church age has concluded. SECTION 7 - THE TWENTY-FOUR ELDERS REPRESENT REDEEMED, CROWNED BELIEVERS IN HEAVEN: Revelation 4:4 describes twenty-four elders clothed in white garments and wearing crowns. Crowns consistently represent rewards given to believers in passages such as 2 Timothy 4:8, James 1:12, and 1 Peter 5:4. These elders appear crowned in heaven before the Tribulation judgments begin. SECTION 8 - THE DOCTRINE OF IMMINENCE: The New Testament repeatedly teaches that believers are to watch for Christ, not for the Antichrist. Titus 2:13 calls the return of Christ the blessed hope. Philippians 3:20 says believers look for the Savior from heaven. James 5:8 teaches that the Lord’s coming is near. If the Church must first witness the rise of the Antichrist, the covenant confirmation, and the mark of the beast, imminence disappears. Pre-tribulation theology preserves the doctrine that Christ could come at any moment. SECTION 9 - THE RESTRAINER IS REMOVED BEFORE THE MAN OF SIN IS REVEALED: 2 Thessalonians 2:6–8 teaches that the revealing of the Antichrist is held back by a restraining force until it is removed. Because the Church is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, many understand this restraining presence to operate through the Church. When the Church is removed, the Antichrist is fully revealed. SECTION 10 - THE DAY OF THE LORD INVOLVES WRATH, NOT THE CHURCH: The Day of the Lord consistently describes judgment. Isaiah 13:9 and Joel 2:31 describe it as a time of wrath and upheaval. Yet 1 Thessalonians 5:4 assures believers that this day will not overtake them as a thief. Pre-tribulation teaching maintains this promise. SECTION 11 - MATTHEW 24 IS TRIBULATION INSTRUCTION FOR ISRAEL: In Matthew 24, Jesus discusses the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel and instructs those in Judea to flee. These instructions are geographically and prophetically tied to Israel during the Tribulation, not the Church’s rapture event. SECTION 12 - TRIBULATION SAINTS ARE REAL BELIEVERS: Revelation describes people who come to faith during the Tribulation. Revelation 7:14 and Revelation 20:4 describe believers who endure persecution and martyrdom. Salvation remains by grace through faith, but these believers exist in a different prophetic period after the Church is removed. SECTION 13 - THE PROPHETIC ORDER; The pre-tribulation framework presents a consistent biblical sequence. The Church age continues with evangelism and watchfulness. Christ comes for His Church. Believers are resurrected and transformed. The Church is with Christ in heaven. Daniel’s 70th Week begins with a covenant. Tribulation judgments unfold. Israel is brought to repentance. Christ returns to earth with His saints. The Kingdom reign follows. SECTION 14 - THE RAPTURE IS PRESENTED AS COMFORT: Paul ends his rapture teaching in 1 Thessalonians 4:18 by instructing believers to comfort one another with these words. The Tribulation is described as the most severe judgment in human history in Matthew 24:21. The tone of comfort fits a deliverance event, not preparation for entering the Tribulation. SECTION 15 - THE BIBLICAL CONCLUSION: When these truths are held together, the pre-tribulation rapture fits naturally within Scripture. The Tribulation is described as God’s wrath. The Church is promised deliverance from wrath. Daniel’s 70th Week focuses on Israel and Jerusalem. The Tribulation begins with a covenant confirmation. Believers are promised deliverance from the global hour of testing. The Church is taught to watch for Christ. The rapture is described as a mystery transformation. Believers meet Christ in the air. The restrainer is removed before the Antichrist is revealed. Revelation presents heavenly scenes followed by Tribulation judgments and then Christ’s return with His saints. This is the pre-tribulation case. Built not on tradition or speculation, but on the flow of Scripture itself. - More Joy Ministries #MoreJoyMinistries
