📖 PSALM 83 — ISRAEL AT WAR 🇮🇱
A Prophetic Watch-
Israel is at war.
This current conflict is causing sleepless nights for foreign secretaries, military leaders, defense analysts, and economists. But there is another group watching closely—students of Bible prophecy.
Why? Because Israel is not just a nation in the news—it is a nation written deeply into Scripture.
Israel is mentioned 2,568 times in the Bible and is a central subject in last-days prophecy (Daniel 9:24). Scripture clearly teaches that the end times will involve war surrounding Israel.
Key prophetic war passages include: • Psalm 2
• Ezekiel 38–39 (Gog and Magog)
• Zechariah 12 & 14
• Revelation 16:16
• Revelation 19
But today, our focus is Psalm 83.
PSALM 83: THE NEIGHBORS ARE RESTLESS-
“They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.”
— Psalm 83:4 (KJV)
Psalm 83 describes a coordinated conspiracy by Israel’s surrounding neighbors with one clear goal:
-Total annihilation of Israel—to erase its very name and memory.
This is not a defensive war.
It is unprovoked, deliberate, and genocidal.
HAS PSALM 83 ALREADY BEEN FULFILLED?
A key requirement of this prophecy is that a nation called “Israel” must exist in the land at the time of invasion.
• Israel ceased to exist in 70 AD
• Israel was reborn as a nation in 1948
To date, no historical conflict fulfills all the conditions of Psalm 83. For this reason, many conclude that Psalm 83 remains future.
🇪🇬 THE EGYPT QUESTION:
One striking detail: Egypt is missing from the Psalm 83 coalition.
This is significant, considering Egypt is mentioned 611 times in 558 verses in the KJV Bible. Why is Israel’s most powerful neighbor absent?
One possible explanation:
- The 1979 Israel–Egypt peace treaty remains intact—remarkably so.
The 1948 war included Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. Since Egypt fought Israel in that war, 1948 cannot be Psalm 83—though it may have been a preview.
In Psalm 83, every bordering nation appears involved except Egypt.
MODERN DEVELOPMENTS & PROPHETIC POSSIBILITY:
The Abraham Accords (2020) brought peace treaties between Israel and: • Morocco
• Bahrain
• United Arab Emirates
• Sudan
Saudi Arabia has also moved toward normalization.
Yet despite these breakthroughs, Israel’s enemies remain more dangerous than ever, especially: • Iran • Hezbollah in Lebanon
If the current conflict expands or drags on, regional alignment could shift quickly, making a Psalm 83–style invasion increasingly plausible.
THE OUTCOME OF PSALM 83:
The psalm does not explicitly describe the battle’s conclusion—but it does record a devastating prayer:
“Do unto them as unto the Midianites…
Let them be confounded and troubled for ever…
That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.”
— Psalm 83:9–11; 16–18 (KJV)
One possible prophetic sequence:
1️⃣ Israel’s neighbors invade
2️⃣ They suffer decisive defeat
3️⃣ They are removed as a military threat
4️⃣ This clears the stage for Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38–39)—a second, outer-ring invasion
PROPHETIC HOPE:
Psalm 83 ends not in hatred—but redemption.
Its final prayer is that all involved would come to know that Jehovah alone is the Most High God over all the earth.
As we watch events unfold in the Middle East, let us remember Christ’s instruction:
“Watch and pray.”
— Matthew 26:41; Mark 13:35–37
🙏 Pray for Israel
🙏 Pray for the nations
🙏 Pray that hearts turn to the Most High God
Bible prophecy is not meant to produce fear—but faith.
