SHOULD AMERICA BE IN THIS WAR WITH ISRAEL AND IRAN? A lot of Christians are asking right now whether America should be in this war with Israel and Iran. And the problem is, a lot of people are answering that question with more politics than Bible. The issue is not whether somebody likes Israel more than Iran. The issue is not whether somebody leans right or left. The issue is not whether war makes people feel strong. The real question is this: what does Scripture teach us about Israel, the nations, government, justice, judgment, and how believers are supposed to think when conflict breaks out? First, the Bible does not teach that America is Israel. That should be obvious, but people still blur it. America is not the covenant nation. America did not receive the promises made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. America is not the nation through whom came the covenants, the law, the temple service, and the Messiah according to the flesh. So we should not talk like the United States has some direct covenant standing with God the way Israel does. But on the other side, the Bible also does not let us act like Israel is just another random nation with no unique place in God’s plan. God made real promises to Abraham and his seed. In Genesis 12:3, the Lord said, “I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee.” That covenant thread does not disappear just because men get arrogant with politics. Paul makes it plain in Romans 11 that God has not cast away His people, and that the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. That means God is not finished with Israel. Israel still has prophetic significance. Jerusalem still matters. The land still matters. The kingdom promises still matter. Jesus is coming back to reign, and He is coming back to Jerusalem. So biblically, no Christian should join the crowd that mocks Israel’s place in prophecy, denies her future, or acts like God is finished with that nation. But now here is where balance matters, because this is where people usually go off the rails. Supporting Israel biblically does not mean pretending Israel is righteous in everything she does. The same Bible that speaks of Israel’s election also speaks of Israel’s rebellion. The same Bible that speaks of covenant promises also speaks of judgment. John the Baptist looked at corrupt religious leaders in Israel and called them a generation of vipers. Jesus pronounced woes on blind leaders in Matthew 23. The prophets repeatedly rebuked the nation for idolatry, injustice, unbelief, and hardness of heart. So no, biblical support for Israel does not mean blind approval of every political decision, military move, or national attitude. That is not discernment. That is propaganda with a Bible verse taped to it. And Scripture is also clear that not every Jew is automatically saved just because he is Jewish. That part matters too. Romans 9:6 says, “For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel.” Romans 9:27 says, “Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved.” Romans 11:5 says there is “a remnant according to the election of grace.” And Zechariah 13:8–9 says that in the future purging of the land, two parts will be cut off, and one third will be brought through the fire and refined. So the Bible does not teach blanket salvation for every Jew. It teaches that Israel remains central in prophecy, but individual salvation is still through faith in the Messiah. There is no salvation through bloodline. There is no salvation through land title. There is no salvation through ethnicity. There is only salvation through Jesus Christ. That means a Christian can say Israel matters in God’s plan without saying every Jew is spiritually right with God. That is the biblical position. Now what about America? Romans 13 says government does not bear the sword in vain. That means civil government has a real God-ordained role in restraining evil, defending order, and punishing wrongdoing. So the Bible does not teach that all war is automatically sinful. There are times when force is used against real evil. But Scripture also never gives nations permission to act in pride, arrogance, bloodlust, or self-glory. Psalm 20 says, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.” Psalm 33 says a king is not saved by the multitude of an host. In other words, military power is not ultimate security, and nations that act like they can move history without answering to God are fooling themselves. So should America be in this war? The Bible does not give America a direct command saying, “You must enter every war involving Israel.” But the Bible also gives no comfort to nations that stand against Israel, empower those who seek her destruction, or treat God’s covenant nation like she is disposable. At the same time, America should never involve itself in war for reasons of ego, empire, profit, vanity, or political theater. A nation can oppose evil and still be guilty before God if its heart is proud and its hands are unjust. That is why this issue cannot be answered with slogans. Israel is not morally perfect. Iran is not morally innocent. America is not the kingdom of God. And no nation gets a free pass before the throne of Christ. Christians should not approach this like bloodthirsty spectators. War is not entertainment. War means death, fear, widows, fatherless children, cities damaged, economies shaken, and people made in the image of God thrown into suffering. Even when force is justified, war is still terrible. So believers should never cheer destruction like it is a football game. At the same time, believers also should not be naive. The Bible has already told us that Israel would remain central, contested, hated, and pressured among the nations. Jerusalem is not spiritually irrelevant. Persia is not biblically irrelevant. The Middle East is not just another patch of dirt in prophecy. So Christians should not be shocked when the nations rage around Israel. Scripture prepared us for that long ago. So what is the biblical answer? We should not curse Israel. We should not deny Israel’s prophetic role. We should not pretend Israel is above correction. We should not call evil good just because a nation has covenant significance. We should not support war out of pride. We should not think America can act without answering to God. And we should not forget that Jews, Iranians, and Americans all need the same Savior. That is the issue people keep missing. The final answer is not found in waving a flag harder. The final answer is not found in acting like modern Israel can do no wrong. The final answer is not found in siding with those who want to wipe Israel out either. The answer is to think biblically. God is not done with Israel. God still judges Israel. God will preserve a remnant. God will fulfill His covenant promises. And every nation involved will answer to Him. So should America be in this war? Not because of party loyalty. Not because of propaganda. Not because people enjoy seeing enemies burn. Not because politicians know how to exploit fear. Only if those in authority can truly justify their actions under the biblical principles of justice, restraint of evil, defense of life, and accountability before God. But as believers, our posture should stay clear. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Pray for truth. Pray for restraint. Pray for justice. Pray for the salvation of Jews. Pray for the salvation of Iranians. Pray for the salvation of Americans. And do not let politics turn you into a flatterer of nations when Scripture keeps reminding you that all nations are dust before the Lord. #MoreJoyMinistries
