Daniel 9:24-27 remains one of the most precise and powerful prophetic passages in Scripture. It lays out a mathematical timeline that points directly to the arrival of the Messiah.
Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place. — Daniel 9:24
The Hebrew word for weeks here is shabuim, which means sevens or units of seven. Most scholars agree these represent sets of seven years.
This breaks down into 49 years for the rebuilding of Jerusalem, 434 years until the Messiah the Prince, and a final prophetic week of seven years.
Calculate the time from the decree to restore Jerusalem mentioned in Nehemiah 2:1-8, which occurred in 445 BC, to the triumphal entry of Christ. The math points to the exact day Jesus rode into Jerusalem.
This is not coincidence. It is evidence of divine precision.
God was precise about the first coming of Christ. We can trust He is equally precise about what is yet to come.
